Osasuna are chasing the defender, but Smith said of Hemdani: "There was never any thought of him going. He has never indicated that to me.

"We just have to wait and see what happens, but we have had no contact from anybody."

Ibrox forward Lee McCulloch has urged Hemdani not to join the Ibrox exodus.

"He is a quality player," he said. "He showed that last season and he has shown that again this season.

"He is one of our most consistent players and he is comfortable with the ball.

"He would definitely be a loss."
