Rangers boss Walter Smith is desperate to hang onto star defender Carlos Cuellar who has attracted the interest of a number of Premiership clubs.

The SPL Player of the Year has enjoyed a magnificent season at the heart of the Rangers defence and has been tracked by both Spurs and Newcastle.

However, Walter Smith confirmed that he is yet to receive any bids - and is happy to keep it that way.

"Nobody has ever been in touch with regard to Carlos," he said. "I want to keep all the players we've got. We are happy with that situation."
