Rangel frustrated as Swansea suffer successive defeats

Angel Rangel sees the international break as a hindrance and a help for Swansea City on the back of successive Premier League defeats. The Spanish full-back concedes that the Swans could do with a rest, with domestic and European commitments having tested their fitness to the full.

In the wake of a 2-0 reversal against Southampton on Sunday, he told the South Wales Evening Post: "In the last 20-odd days we have played so many games, so mentally and physically you're going to be tired.

"But the start is the most important thing. If you start well it gives you confidence for the rest of the game.

"We looked more tired at the beginning than the end against Southampton, and that can happen.

"Now we have a break, we will recharge the batteries and get ready for the next test. The next couple of games will be very important because we want to get points in the league.

"It is good to rest because we have played a lot of games, but when you lose you want to play again straight away.

"It's going to be a long 15 days for us - we'll train every day and try to improve."
