Race for the Scudetto: Lautaro inspires Inter Milan; Vlahovic back for Juventus; Remember the name - Cyril Ngonge

Last weekend was dominated by Milano's derby. One of the most awaited derbies in recent times - and for several reasons, beginning with the incredibly negative moment of Stefano Pioli's team. But there was no reaction, the Rossoneri lost another match, a second derby defeat in less than a month, with new problems to face for Pioli. Let's see what happened in this week's Serie A:

INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCES OF THE WEEK - CYRIL NGONGE AND LAUTARO MARTINEZ

Two different footballers, who are experiencing very different career stages: one is just at the beginning, the other is getting stronger year after year. The best performances of this week were those of Cyril Ngonge and Lautaro, of course.

The first is a young Belgian striker, born in 2000, in his second match with Verona's kit: he scored the goal that settled the score at 1-1 after Pedro's goal. He scored with a header, but played a great match from the first minute to his last on the pitch: fast, skilled, dangerous all the time, a problem for every centre-back. He is one to follow for sure.

Lautaro, on the other hand, is simply a phenomenon. He came back from the World Cup at an even higher level, playing great football and scoring a lot of goals, which is obviously the most important thing for a striker like him. He decided the "Derby della Madonnina" with a great header at minute 34' after a perfect cross from a corner kick. Tatarusanu couldn't do anything, but he has done a lot more than "simply" scoring, fighting every single minute of the game. A true captain!

TEAM OF THE WEEK - HELLAS VERONA

The most surprising result of the week. There is no doubt about that. The team of Zaffaroni and Bocchetti seemed the most classic of sacrificial victims, having to host Lazio in search of a reaction after their elimination from the Coppa Italia.

Instead it was quite the opposite: Verona controlled the game, they also deserved to win. Though at the end of the first half it was Lazio who scored, thanks to a sensational play by Pedro, who is playing intermittently but sometimes reminds us that he was a great champion.

In the second half it was the young Ngonge who found the 1-1 goal, then the final score, but the performance of Zaffaroni's team should be stressed. A group who raised their heads again after an almost nightmarish start to the season. No one expected this draw, surely Maurizio Sarri did not expect it: with the two points lost on Monday, his team reached a total of 17 points lost from an advantageous situation. A problem to be solved quickly.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK - DUSAN VLAHOVIC

Dusan is back and he is showing how things should be done. The Bianconeri had missed the Serbian striker, who against Salernitana, in a match defined by Max Allegri as a "direct clash in the relegation zone" to motivate the team, returned to doing what he does best: goalscoring.

He scored two on Tuesday evening, one from a penalty kick and one with a nice left-footed volley. In the difficulties encountered during the season by the Bianconeri, the absence of Dusan certainly has hadd a specific weight: this year he's barely played 1400 minutes in total, in the Champions League and Serie A. Juventus' situation obviously is extremely complicated, given the issue related to the 15-point penalty in the standings, but the only thing they can do is finish the season in the best possible way and hope that there won't be even more problems with the public prosecutor's office.

Surely Vlahovic's return will help Allegri collect as many points as possible from now until the end of the championship. One goal after another, as he knows how to do.

SURPRISE OF THE WEEK - SASSUOLO DEFEAT ATALANTA

Duvan Zapata and Luis Muriel aren't experiencing a golden moment, there's no doubt about that. And Gian Piero Gasperini's Atalanta lost points against Alessio Dionisi's Sassuolo in the last Serie A weekend.

Sassuolo, after the resounding 2- 5 against Stefano Pioli's Milan, have recovered energy and confidence and started playing again with the courage and conviction of its own ideas. Jakub Maehle's dismissal certainly helped the Neroverdi, who were able to play most of the match 11 vs 10, but Sassuolo's performance was overall better than Atalanta's.

Teoon Koopmeiners and his teammates seemed to be racing towards one of the first four places in the standings, but the renewal of the technical project and the presence of many young players (starting with Rasmus Hojlund, a young striker who is playing and scoring with the ease of an expert this year) are causing several missteps which are costing Gasperini dearly. In any case, there was no story in the match against Dominico Berardi and his teammates: Sassuolo played well, shot on goal eight times (6 more than Atalanta) and found the winning goal thanks to Armand Laurienté, who scored as Jeremie Boga did consistently a few years ago, today in the Bergamo team. One-on-one with the defender, dribbling and a great right-footed shot: ball in, nothing to do for Juan Musso.
