Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn cannot rule out selling one of their stars this month.
Asamoah Gyan has been linked with Real Madrid in recent weeks.
Quinn said: "I'll point out that I cannot see this happening, but if someone went crazy and wanted to buy any of our players with a spectacular offer, I would look at it if it made sense and benefited us in the long term.
"That was the case when Lorik [Cana] and Kenwyne [Jones] left, but it would be very difficult to lose any of the vibrant team we have assembled and naturally, we want to keep the players who are doing so well."
