QPR were warned about Joey Barton's conduct during their defeat at Sunderland.
The Sunday Mirror says former Newcastle schemer Barton, relegated to the Rangers bench, made 5-1 gestures as he warmed up.
Barton's gesture - referring to the Magpies' win at St James' Park in which he played - sparked anger among the home fans. A steward reported Barton's antics to Sunderland's stadium control and the QPR bench were requested to ask him to stop inciting supporters.
The QPR club captain, subbed in the midweek win over Liverpool and booed by fans, faces a possible FA probe.
Barton later tweeted "Very, very disappointed," but his actions didn't help on a bad day for QPR.
