QPR are preparing a bid for Aston Villa defender Ron Vlaar.
The Birmingham Mail says last month's Championship play-off winners are looking to boost a central defensive department containing Villa old boys Richard Dunne and Aaron Hughes, veteran skipper Clint Hill and utility player Nedum Onuoha.
Even though Vlaar's transfer value - and likely wage demands - have increased thanks to his World Cup exploits, Villa would be loath to lose their captain, who was their best defender last season.
