QPR chairman Tony Fernandes has had to assure his Formula One team that his football club's relegation won't affect them.

Fernandes has told his Formula One team they will not be affected by Rangers' relegation.

Caterham, based in Oxfordshire, has been assured its funding is secure despite Rangers losing millions in TV revenue and sponsorship after going down.

An insider told The Sun: "The two businesses have always been run separately, so QPR's relegation will not affect the Formula One team."
