QPR boss Harry Redknapp has revealed how he tried to sign Chelsea star Eden Hazard for Tottenham.
In his column for The Sun on Sunday, Redknapp has told how he met with Hazard in a hotel room in Paris (with wife Sandra's full blessing, of course) as he looked to put together a deal, following a glowing report by former protégé Joe Cole.
"I was trying to sign him for Tottenham from Lille, where he had a reputation as one of Europe's finest players," says Redknapp.
"The deal never quite came off but I got the impression this was a lad who was going places - and he's certainly proved that at Chelsea this season."
