Pundit: Liverpool boss Klopp regretting selling Benteke? Maybe...

Pundit Gerry Francis believes that Jurgen Klopp probably regrets offloading Christian Benteke to Crystal Palace.

Benteke endured a terrible time at Liverpool following his big-money move to Anfield from Aston Villa in the summer of 2015 and manager Klopp decided to quickly offload the Belgian international to Palace over the summer.

While Benteke has managed to thrive at Palace this season, Liverpool strikers Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi have not particularly impressed and Francis thinks that Klopp is perhaps regretful of allowing the ex-Genk star to leave Anfield without giving him a proper opportunity.

When asked if Klopp was regretting letting Benteke leave, Francis said on Sky Sports: "Maybe. It depends how they want to play.

"If Benteke is in your team, you have to supply him with the right crosses in the right areas.

"If Jurgen Klopp wants to make a high-pressing game, with a lot of energy, quick counter-attacks, playing balls in behind, then maybe he's a different type of player.

"It's horses for courses what the manager wants, what his reflections are in terms of going forward. Certainly he's a handful when you supply him with the crosses."
