PSG and Schalke performances show 'anything is possible' - Man City's Zabaleta

Pablo Zabaleta is looking at Champions League performances from last week to act as motivation for their crucial clash with Barcelona on Wednesday.

City trail the Catalan club 2-1 after the Round of 16 first leg at the Etihad Stadium late last month but their mission to overcome Luis Enrique's side is not impossible according to Zabaleta.

German club Schalke produced a 4-3 win over Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu but fell short 5-4 on aggregate while Paris Saint-Germain drew 2-2 with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge to progress on away goals despite being without Zlatan Ibrahimovic who was sent off on the half-hour.

Zabaleta is using these enactments as the catalyst for City's potential progression to the quarter-finals of Europe's premier club competition despite a victory at the Nou Camo being massively against the odds.

"Mentally we must be very focused but if you look at the game Real Madrid played against Schalke and the same with Chelsea and PSG, it shows anything can happen in football," he said.

"That's why we need to go to Barca with confidence with belief and try to do our best to win that game.

"We have played in this competition for four years. It's a competition we want to make progress in."
