Prince William has sent his congratulations to England's U20 players after they won the World Cup on Sunday.

The Young Lions beat Venezuela 1-0 in Sunday's Final to win England's first world title since the senior team lifted the Jules Rimet trophy in 1966.

Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored the only goal of the game before Newcastle goalkeeper Freddie Woodman denied Watford's Adalberto Peñaranda from the penalty spot with less than 20 minutes remaining to preserve the narrow advantage.

A statement issued through the Kensington Palace Twitter feed said: "Huge congratulations to England on winning the U20 World Cup - high hopes for the future of English football!"
