Preziosi pledges more cash to Genoa transfer plans

Genoa supremo Enrico Preziosi has pledged a further £10 million to their summer transfer kitty.

"We have already spent £3m on Papa Waigo, £1.3m for co-ownership of Marco Borriello with Milan, while Juventus valued Matteo Paro at £2m," Preziosi told Radio Radio. "It's far from over. We are thinking of investing at least as much again for those three or four signings we still need.

"After 12 years out of Serie A, we cannot afford to present a squad that is only fighting to avoid the drop."

Genoa had one of the best defenders in Serie B last term, but even though Domenico Criscito has gone to Juventus, he could yet return.

"I really hope that Juve buy Gabriel Milito from Real Zaragoza, as that will free Criscito to come back to us," added the patron.

"We have a sort of gentleman's agreement with the Bianconeri. If he is not a first team player, he could be returned to us on loan so that he can continue to develop. The last word is up to Juventus and Claudio Ranieri, though."
