Preston North End have confirmed that two Premiership clubs have enquired about star striker David Nugent, kicking off what could be a fierce battle for his signature.
Nugent is likely to leave Deepdale after the club's failure to win promotion and a whole host of clubs have been linked with the man who won his first England cap against Andorra in March.
Now Preston chairman Derek Shaw has admitted that two unnamed clubs have made preliminary contact regarding the 22 year old.
"There have been one or two tentative enquiries," Shaw told the Lancashire Evening Post.
"Nothing definite though at this stage. We have had a couple of phone calls about David from a couple of clubs. That is all."
