PREMIER LEAGUE WRAP SATURDAY: Chelsea streak continues, Newcastle go five in a row as Man Utd edge Arsenal

Chelsea stretched their lead at the top of the Barclays Premier League table to seven points courtesy of a 2-0 win over West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

Jose Mourinho's Blues produced a professional performance at Stamford Bridge to land their third victory on the trot and extend their unbeaten run to 12 matches, remaining undefeated.

Diego Costa and Eden Hazard scored in the first half before Baggies midfielder Claudio Yacob was sent off just before the half-hour mark.

Chelsea's 32 points, which has them well clear of second-placed Southampton, has come from a possible 36 points in what has been a scintillating start to the season.

Newcastle United consolidated their return to form by maintaining their title as the most in-form team in the competition with a fifth-straight win.

Alan Pardew's Magpies edged QPR 1-0 at St James' Park courtesy of Moussa Sissoko's 78th-minute strike to move up to fifth on the standings as north east neighbours Sunderland drew 0-0 with Leicester City at King Power Stadium.

Everton produced a 2-1 home win over West Ham United thanks to a 73rd-minute winner from Leon Osman in his 400th appearance for the club.

Romelu Lukaku opened the scoring in the first half before Mauro Zarate levelled in the 56th minute just moments after coming off the bench.

But Osman bobbed up with a timely winner in his milestone match to lead the Toffees to ninth on the table.

Reigning champions Manchester City came from behind to beat Swansea City 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium to remain third. Wilfried Bony celebrated his new contract extension with an early goal for the Swans before Stevan Jovetic responded prior to Yaya Toure's winner in the 62nd minute.

Burnley made it two triumphs in a row when beating Stoke City 2-1 at the Britannia Stadium with Danny Ings netting in the 12th and 13th minutes before Jon Walters made a game of it just after the half-hour mark.

But the Clarets held on for a morale-boosting win which saw them move up to 18th on the table ahead of Crystal Palace who play on Sunday.

And in the late game, Manchester United moved up to fourth with a 2-1 win over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Kieran Gibbs conceded an own-goal in the 56th minute before Wayne Rooney doubled the advantage in the 85th prior to Olivier Giroud coming off the bench and firing home a stunning half-volley which ended up being solely a consolation goal.

Sunday's fixtures see Crystal Palace host Liverpool at Selhurst Park and Tottenham make the trip to Hull City before Aston Villa's clash with Southampton at Villa Park on Monday night.
