PREMIER LEAGUE: Dour Stoke hold off Liverpool

Stoke City have produced a solid defensive display to hold off a Liverpool outfit seemingly devoid of ideas in attack.

Kenny Dalglish's Reds forced Potters keeper Thomas Sorensen into just one solitary save despite having 15 shots at the target whilst Tony Pulis' men fought hard to make it four Premier League matches without a loss keeping them eighth on the table with Liverpool staying sixth.

Liverpool's first half was something better left off match reports as Stoke controlled them into defensive pockets before the home side began to show some creative nous in the second term and should have grabbed a goal 13 minutes from time. A deflected ball from the left flank found its way to Dirk Kuyt who missed the target with an unmarked header from the edge of the six-yard box but it wasn't to be as the Reds extended their unbeaten run at Anfield to 11 games but with four of them being wins.

TRIBAL ASKS: Another poor result for Liverpool at home. Is this wreaking havoc with their Champions League chances?
