Premier League consider blocking clubs loaning players from their network

The Premier League are taking steps to prevent clubs from loaning players from teams they own or part-own.

Per The Mail, the league's shareholders will vote on a temporary ban for such deals in January.

Concerns had been raised about Newcastle United signing players from the Saudi Pro League.

As the Magpies are owned by the Saudi Public Investment Fund, they have been linked to Ruben Neves on loan.

However, the rule is one that will impact a lot of teams in the Premier League.

Arsenal, Aston Villa, Chelsea, Brighton, West Ham, Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth, Sheffield United and Crystal Palace all have owners with more than one team.

Manchester City have the City Football Group, while Newcastle have their Saudi connection.

Permanent deals are scrutinized separately and will not be a part of this arrangement.
