Prandelli on new Juventus coach Pirlo: When he speaks the locker room goes quiet

Former Italy coach Cesare Prandelli believes Andrea Pirlo can be a success with Juventus.

Pirlo was named new coach of Juve after Saturday's dismissal of Maurizio Sarri. It will be his first ever coaching post.

But Prandelli said in his column for Tuttosport: "Pirlo reminds me in an incredible way of Gaetano Scirea: he resembles him, their way of being is identical, and in front of these silent leaders - the rare times they decide to intervene in the locker room to say something - they all shut up.

"I have witnessed such scenes live and I will never forget them. The leader does not say 'I am a leader'. Others say so. When you have certain behaviors, you do certain play, the others follow you.

"Pirlo made technical and tactical intelligence talk. And then when the silent leader speaks, as happened with Scirea and with him, everyone is silent. But everyone.

"They say: 'Ok, now we will hear something non-trivial, that makes you think'."
