Roma sports chief Daniele Prade has revealed they beat AC Milan and Fiorentina for new Brazilian defender Juan.

He said: "Juan is a player who we were keen to bring here because he has 55 caps with Brazil and is someone who deserves greater recognition.

"We knew his qualities and we thought that he was a player who would be good for Roma. We were able to move quicker than Milan and Fiorentina, who were tracking the player."
