Poyet wants long term contract to manage Brighton

Gus Poyet steered Brighton into the mid-table safety of League One in his first six months in charge and is now looking at a longer term deal. Poyet signed an 18-month deal in November and is planning to put together a side capable of pushing for promotion next season.

The Uruguayan, who saw a stunning 44th-minute strike from Elliott Bennett earn a 1-0 win over Yeovil on Saturday, said: "I am very happy at Brighton and am making the team play the way I want to. I want the chance of taking us to the play-offs."
