Former Brighton boss Gus Poyet is being lined up for a return to European football.
Poyet has left Chinese giants Guangzhou Evergrande over the past month and is eager to jump back into football.
The Uruguayan is wanted by Alaves, who are seeking a new coach after this week's dismissal of Luis Zubeldia.
Alaves are turning to Poyet after being turned down by former Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka.
Poyet has previous LaLiga experience, having had a short spell in charge of Real Betis.
