Former Australian youth coach Ange Postecoglou has been named as the new Brisbane Roar coach. The 44-year old will immediately take over from Frank Farina who was sacked after being charged with drink-driving last weekend.
Postecoglou has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Roar, his first coaching stint in Australia since his acrimonious end to the job as mentor of the Young Socceroos in 2007.
Since then he has had a ten-month spell with Greek club Panachaiki before moving onto commentary on Fox Sports.
The former South Melbourne star will be in charge of the Roar for the first time when they meet the Central Coast Mariners tomorrow.
