Manchester United assistant boss Carlos Queiroz is Portugal's top target to succeed Luiz Felipe Scolari as national team coach.

Queiroz, 55, has already had one stint looking after his national side in the 1990s and it will be a huge temptation for him to go for the post again.

The coach knows he has a good chance of succeeding Fergie at Old Trafford when the United boss finally retires.

But it is a question of whether he wants to wait a minimum of two years for that possibility.
