Veteran Portsmouth defender Linvoy Primus has set his sights on a return to the first-team following his latest round of knee surgery.

Primus went under the knife of renowned US surgeon Dr Richard Steadman in Colorado in a bid to 'stimulate tissue and cartilage growth' and resolve a long-running knee problem.

The 34-year-old defender has been out of action since undergoing an initial knee operation in the summer.

Primus is currently in the last year of his contract at Fratton Park and needs to make 20 appearances this season in order to trigger an automatic clause which would guarantee him another 12 months with the South Coast club.

"The operation seemed to go very well," he told the club's official website.

"It has been such a frustrating time for me, especially bearing in mind how it went last season.

"But hopefully this latest treatment will prove successful and I can build myself up again and get back into contention for a first-team place."
