David Nugent, the Portsmouth striker, claims he has not lost his goalscoring touch. The 23-year-old has still to score a Premier League goal and struggled to live up to his £7million price tag.
But he is hoping to fight his way into manager Tony Adams' plans, telling the club's website: "The injuries are behind me now and hopefully I can kick on from here.
"I thought I did well when I came on against Hull and hopefully I might get another chance in the coming weeks.
"You don't lose your goalscoring ability. I've proved I can score at my previous clubs, Preston and Bury, and given the chance I'm sure I'll score goals for Portsmouth too."
But he added: "Now I've just got to try and make an impact and persuade the manager to play me.
"We've got the FA Cup third round coming up at the start of January so hopefully I'll get another chance and can help Pompey to another final."
