Portsmouth administrator Andrew Andronikou hopes they can use the World Cup as a shop window for their players.
The Blues have no fewer than six players representing their countries at the event.
Three of them - Prince Boateng, Nadir Belhadj and John Utaka - are up for sale as the administrators look to raise £15m to ease the club's crippling debts.
Andronikou told The News: "I suppose you could say the race is on because we want to move players involved in the World Cup very quickly.
"I believe we have got a mutual interest in achieving this before the World Cup begins. Obviously the players want to sort out their futures so they can concentrate on representing their countries.
"As for us, we would like to know where we stand in regards to taking this club forward and drawing up plans. I know the players have their own ideas about where they would like to go and this would be beneficial to us all.
"At the moment discussions are on-going and we are hopeful of selling some of our players."
