Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp insists he was OFFERED the Newcastle United job.

After defeat at Sunderland yesterday, Redknapp dismissed Newcastle's accusation that he had not been offered the job, or that he had turned it down because he wanted to commute.

Redknapp said: "It's absolute rubbish they didn't offer it to me. It didn't happen because I didn't want the job.

"I'm fed up with it. I just want to get away from it all. It's been overpowering."
