Harry Redknapp has reassured FA Cup hero Pedro Mendes he has a future at Portsmouth.
And he hopes starting Mendes in last weekend's Cup final against Cardiff proves the former Spurs star has a big part to play in the club's plans.
Mendes is known to be unhappy over the lack of regular first-team football this season and reportedly put his Sandbanks house up for sale.
But Redknapp showed his faith in the fans' favourite by surprisingly naming the 29 year old in his Wembley side to face the Bluebirds.
He told The News: "I want Pedro to stay, no doubt about that. He's a good player and you want good players.
"He can get the ball down and pass it. He's got fantastic ability, he can spray it around, he works hard - the lad's got everything.
"I like him. I don't want Pedro to go anywhere, I honestly don't.
"He can still play an important role for us - I put him into my FA Cup side which says a lot really.
