Portsmouth boss Cowley calm amid Liverpool rumours for Bazunu

Portsmouth boss Danny Cowley has dismissed talk of losing Gavin Bazunu to Liverpool in January.

The Reds have been linked with the Republic of Ireland goalkeeper, who is on-loan at Pompey from Manchester City.

“I'm pretty sure Manchester City are not going to want to sell Gavin Bazunu," Cowley told HampshireLive.

“I don't want to speak for Manchester City. I'd be shocked if they did, just because of the potential he has, his capabilities. That would be something you'd have to ask Manchester City.

“We're certainly confident that he's going to be with us for the season."

Loris Karius is still on the books at Liverpool but is expected to depart once his contract expires in the summer.

Bazunu faces a tough test to displace Ederson at the Etihad, with Zack Steffen also waiting in the wings for Pep Guardiola's side.
