Portsmouth boss Tony Adams has been told he can only spend £5 MILLION this month!
Portsmouth have banked £30m after selling striker Jermain Defoe to Spurs and midfielder Lassana Diarra to Real Madrid, says The Sun.
Adams is negotiating with Middlesbrough over the return of midfielder Gary O'Neil, 24, who left Pompey in August 2007.
Boro want £4.75m - but still owe part of the £5m they bought him for.
And Adams has confirmed he is ready to hand Newcastle bad-boy Joey Barton a chance.
He said: "I think Joey is a great man but he plays for Newcastle.
"I give people second chances. People in glass houses and all that."
