Portsmouth have accepted a £1 million offer from Newcastle United for defender Mike Williamson.

The Daily Mail says the deal will represent a £2m loss on the central defender signed five months ago.

Williamson, 26, signed a four-year deal at Fratton Park but has not played a game for Pompey since his £3m move from Watford - who had also made an inquiry.

If he can agree personal terms he will be the first of what could be an exodus from the south coast club this month.
