Everton have had an offer for Porto midfielder Lucho Gonzalez rejected.

The Blues tabled a club record £11 million bid for the Argentina international, but it was rejected yesterday.

However, a deal for Gonzalez could still be on after it emerged that Porto had acquired 100 per cent of the player's transfer rights in recent days. Porto have paid £4.2 million for the remaining 50 per cent of Gonzalez's registration, so making it easier for the Portuguese giants to deal with foreign clubs.
