Portland Timbers' home opener gets great TV ratings

MLS expansion franchise Portland timbers experienced brilliant numbers for their home opener last Thursday.

Besides the match at JELD-WEN Field being sold out, ratings on ESPN were extremely high, indicating that the support for the sophomore MLS club is certainly there.

ESPN2's coverage of the clash with Chicago Fire attracted over 200,000 viewers nationally which was on par with the corresponding fixture between Philadelphia Union and Toronto FC last year.
