Pochettino urges Kane to become Tottenham's Totti

Harry Kane can become Tottenham's Francesco Totti, according to Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The Roma legend retired at the end of last season after spending his entire career with his hometown club.

Kane, who joined Spurs when he was 11 years of age, has garnered attention over the past year due to his goalscoring exploits, with Real Madrid being touted as a potential destination for the England international.

But Pochettino has revealed how inspired Kane felt after watching Totti's last game at the Stadio Olimpico, and has backed the 24-year-old to continue on the same career path as the Italian.

Pochettino said: "Harry Kane was so emotional when he saw the last game of Totti in Rome, that he only played for one club. What I said is maybe Harry Kane can have the same career as Totti.

"He enjoys Tottenham a lot. He comes from the academy and his identity is with the club. He's a player who gets inspired to score goals and to play for Tottenham, and he loves the shirt.

"He identifies with Tottenham values and I hope, for us and the supporters, that he stays with us for a long time, because he is a great player and a great professional."
