Phillips reveals Stones, Walker importance in selling Man City move

Manchester City signing Kalvin Phillips admits his England teammates played a part in him signing for the club.

The defensive midfielder left his boyhood Leeds United this summer in chase of trophies and Champions League football.

Phillips spoke about his discussions with City and England star John Stones and Kyle Walker about the club, before he agreed to sign his contract.

"I spoke to them (Stones and Walker) at the last England camp when there were quite a lot of rumours going around," Phillips told the club's website.

"The lads were saying: 'you need to come to City, it's one of the best teams in the world. We've got a great manager and great people around the club'.

"(They also said) the way that the Club runs is totally different to other clubs.

"I was very intrigued obviously when they were telling me about it and eventually it happened.

"I'm looking forward to getting into the training ground, meeting the boys and training as well."
