Former US U23 international defender Michael Orozco is joining Philadelphia Union.

The Philadelphia Union sent allocation money to Red Bull New York on Friday for the first spot in the MLS allocation order and selected Orozco.

Orozco is on loan from Mexican First Division team San Luis FC, where he spent the last three years. Per club and MLS rules, terms of deal were not released.

"We are happy to have Michael join us," said Union coach Peter Nowak. "It is great to have a player at the top of his game show his desire and commitment. We hope to have him as an anchor at the back of our defense for a long time to come."
