Stiliyan Petrov says Aston Villa teammate Gabby Agbonlahor deserves senior England recognition.

Petrov said: "Is Agbonlahor ready for full England call-up? Why not? He is causing a lot of trouble for every defender in the Premier League, so why not? We hope we can make it at some stage.

"He did well last season but has improved a lot as a player during this season and you will see even more from him. You will see more goals from him and more speed from him as well.

"I think Gareth showed the way with England for the Villa players here. He got his chance, he took it and now he is an important player for England.

"I hope Ashley (Young) and Gabby (Agbonlahor) can do the same as well. The way Gabby is playing, he is terrorising every defence and every player so why not get called up by England?

"We will be happy if he makes it and it would not be underserved."
