Peterborough chief Fry admits battle to keep Ferguson

Peterborough United chief Barry Fry admits they'll battle to hang onto manager Darren Ferguson.

The son of Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, Darren again added to his reputation with Saturday's 1-1 draw against FA Cup opponents West Brom.

Fry said: "We've improved no end since Darren walked into the building. He's a great manager destined for the top and his name is mentioned whenever a job becomes vacant.

"Our main problem will be hanging on to him. It's not so much keeping our players as we seek back-to-back promotions. We just say 'No' as we did to offers of £2million and £2.5m for our strike force of Aaron McLean and Mackail-Smith at the start of the season.

"But Darren is different. If the right club come in for him, neither the chairman nor I would want to stand in his way. As long as someone pays £8.4m in compensation we would let him go!

"He is under contract for four years. He's done great for us. What I admire most give them room and they will hurt you. This time Posh got in their faces."
