Pepe Mel has been named new coach of Almeria.

Mel succeeds Gaizka Garitano, who was sacked on Wednesday night.

He takes charge of Almería only until the end of the season. That is, the 10 games that remain for Almeria to record a first win of the campaign.

Mel arrives after closing an adventure in Greece with OFI Crete just a month ago.

He only led the Greeks on twelve occasions with a record of eight defeats, three draws and only one victory.

Mel's first game in charge this weekend will be against former club Las Palmas.
