Manuel Pellegrini has told his Manchester City directors to drop their pursuit of Napoli striker Edinson Cavani.
City have made a bid for Cavani this summer, which was confirmed by Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis last week.
The Mail on Sunday says City have cooled their interest in the player, with new Chilean manager Pellegrini understood to feel he would be unsuitable for the style in which he wants to play.
