Stuart Pearce says it is great for the England football team that Steven Gerrard will be back in action next week.
The Three Lions' caretaker boss will play the Liverpool captain in Wednesday's international friendly with Holland at Wembley and says it is vital for a player of his quality and experience to be out there to help guide some of the nation's younger players.
"It would be too easy and too foolish to put a totally inexperienced side out for a game of this magnitude. There will have to be one or two old heads who guide one or two of the youngsters.""Steven hasn't been in the squad since 2010, so it was important he came back in. With Wayne Rooney's suspension in the two group games, I thought it was important he was back on an international pitch playing games," he said in a pre-game press conference on Sky Sports News.
