Parnaby: Middlesbrough best place for Porritt

Middlesbrough is the best place for England starlet Nathan Porritt, says the club's academy chief Dave Parnaby.

Porritt recently penned a two-year contract with his hometown club and Parnaby told the Evening Gazette: "Nathan always wanted to be a Middlesbrough player and it's good and important he's committed his future to the club.

"Having had sensible discussions with his family, myself, Gareth Southgate and (Boro coaches) Steve Agnew and Martin Scott, he's realised this is the best place for him to be.

"He understands what Gareth's trying to achieve here. He progressed last year and now that he's staying we hope he can continue to progress over the next two years."
