Former England defender Paul Parker has praised young English right-backs Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Reece James in an interview with Tribal Football.
Speaking earlier this month, Parker reflected on the deep talent pool available to England in the right-back position and said that as a defender Manchester United man Wan-Bissaka stood out above the rest.
He added that Chelsea full-back James had also impressed him with his brief displays in the Premier League and said that he shouldn't be ruled out of a call-up going forward.
"As a defender there is no one in England as good as Wan-Bissaka, he is like Des Walker, but on the other side of it, going forward, he still has a lot to learn," Parker told Tribal Football.
"James is too early to play for England and not a regular at Chelsea yet. But he has done very well and dug deep in the lower divisions in Wigan, and being a regular at your isn't always necessary to play for your national side."
However, Parker questioned whether Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold had the defensive qualities required to succeed for the national team.
"Alexander-Arnold plays in a team where he is always crossing and getting forward, so his involvement in attacking areas is more than other full backs," he said.
"But I always judge a full-back on their defensive work."
Going into Euro 2020 next summer, England also have Kyle Walker and Kieran Trippier as potential options to fill the right-back slot.
Parker starred for England during the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy, playing out of position at right-back, rather than is his preferred centre-back role.
In total, Parker earned 19 caps for his country and made more than 100 league appearances for Manchester United.
