Pardew praises 'brave' Newcastle captain Coloccini

Newcastle United skipper Fabricio Coloccini has been commended for showing complete bravery to play against Manchester United on the weekend.

The Argentine defender recovered from a back strain sustained at training to take his place in the Magpies' starting line-up for the 1-1 draw at Old Trafford and his efforts were praised by manager Alan Pardew.

"It was Colo's bravery that got him out there, and we wouldn't have got the results without him - 100%," he told The Chronicle.

"How he played at Man United I don't know, he could hardly walk off the training field on Friday.

"His back seized up and the medical team did a fabulous job on him."
