Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew admits they considered West Ham United striker Enner Valencia this summer.
Newcastle checked on £12million Valencia following his impressive showing at the World Cup with Ecuador.
And Pardew said: "The (Valencia) interest wasn't to the point where it got close. But their market is our market and all of those players who went there are players we perhaps should have moved on, because they have done very well.
"That's testament to their scouting team and the manager for picking them off."
