Pantelis leaves Adelaide United for Wellington Phoenix

Wellington Phoenix head coach Ricki Herbert has confirmed that the club had secured the services of Adelaide United midfielder Lucas Pantelis for the coming season.

Pantelis, 29, has signed a two-year contract and will arrive in Wellington next month, Herbert said he was delighted to sign a player who has made 101 A-League appearances for Adelaide United.

“Lucas is a balanced, quick, left-sided player who has played a major role at a successful club,” Herbert said.

“We have been talking to him for a while and it is great to get the deal over the line.”

It is the Wellington club’s second signing this month with former Perth Glory and North Queensland Fury fullback Jimmy Downey joining from Sparta Rotterdam two weeks ago.
