Sampdoria captain Angelo Palombo insists they haven't thrown away their Champions League chances.
Palombo has called for calm after his side's 3-1 defeat to Werder Bremen in the first leg of their Champions League qualifier.
He told Gazzetta dello Sport: "We know very well how much it's worth to get beyond the Play-offs and into the group stages both for the players on a level of prestige and above all for the club, seeing that Sampdoria could count on important income on an economic level.
"We know our worth and there is the consciousness of being able to put them in difficulty. With a little luck the first game wouldn't have ended 3-1.
"We know the atmosphere at the Ferraris, and in games like these our fans reveal themselves to be fundamental. It seems almost superfluous to remind people of it.
"We might be playing against the wind, but we'll be ready at the right moment, of that much you can be sure."
