Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini will attempt to sign Sampdoria rebel Antonio Cassano.

Zamparini was pressed on whether he is serious about signing the 28-year-old enigma.

"From the moment that I loved football profoundly, the kind that is played well and by great champions, I would be very happy to contract an absolute talent like Cassano, who I consider to be the only true young Italian champion still playing.

"Yes, I will try and sign him."
