Palermo defender Moris Carrozzieri has apologised to fans for failing a drugs test.
"I am deeply disappointed for my error and I apologise to my teammates, the fans and the President," said Moris, who tested positive for cocaine after the game against Torino in Week 30.
"I don't understand how could I do something so stupid that night. I have never accepted shortcuts in life and on the pitch so I am ready to face the consequences for my errors."
Only a few weeks before the drugs test took place, Carrozzieri was speaking to the students of Palermo University about the negativity of doping in football.
"I want to collaborate with the FIGC to explain my position. I have already given my availability to take part in any initiative to avoid other people repeating my mistakes," he concluded in his first interview after the ban.
