Palermo sports chief Walter Sabatini says striker Edinson Cavani has extended his contract.

The Uruguayan is hot property on the transfer market, linked with sides like Juventus, Milan and Inter.

"Cavani has already signed the contract renewal, so at this point we just need to deposit it with the Lega Calcio," explained Sabatini.

"When we do that, then we will announce it. Cavani was the one to ask for a renewal, out of a sense of gratitude towards Palermo, and he got it.

"We thank him for that. We're very happy and will see what happens with him over the next few months.

"This new agreement will tie Cavani to Palermo for another three years."
